Good news!
I can't think of what it is right now, but in a country the size of California, I'm sure there's a little floating around.
We've been sorta kinda busy, but not in any sort of productive way. Everyone knows that we're withdrawing troops and so there is this crazy push to put extreme restrictions on all operations to prevent harm to troops. It's not a good thing, and is preventing us from working. Hard to explain.
Point being we are not getting what needs to be done, done.
On the other hand we're having more fun doing less. Thanks for all the stuff people have sent. Shout out to J. and P. and her parents. And of course mom, way to rock. I think sleep is trying to choke me unconscious right now. Night to everyone.

Letters From Iraq: Return to the Desert
I swear this place gets nicer and nicer every time I come here. Someone took it upon themselves to erect giant concrete slabs to "protect" us from mortar fire. Ironically I don't think the base had been mortared in months prior to their emplacement.
Kuwait was okay. It's still sandy for those of you that were wondering. We got into Iraq fairly quickly. We still haven't become operational, that's still awhile away. In the meantime I'm stuffing my face with ice cream and crab legs because your tax dollars pay a contractor 70 dollars every time I eat a meal. Hahahahahaha.
Everything else is going okay. It's sort of coldish right now. I guess that's it. When I give the Iraq weather update it's time to retire for the day. When things get soap-opera juicy I'll write again.

Letters From Travels: Jungle Trek
so let me give you all a run-down of my 6-day jungle trek:
on the first day we walked up a giant mountain (which happened every day and will not be mentioned again). there was a natural pool there that was amazing and clean and basically kick-ass. except the little biting fish.
the second day we did some more mountains (I know i said I wouldn't mention it but there were a lot of them). That afternoon we took a tour of (and I am NOT making this up) a working cocaine factory where an old man gave us the rundown of the process and let people try a cocaine treated cigarette.
the next day we arrived at the lost city (the object of the trek). It was sweet, but relatively indescribable, as places with natural beauty tend to be.
the next day we walked around the city.
The last day of the ascenct the guides were forced to carry all of the food themselves because the trail to the city was impassable to donkeys. we started heading down, that took awhile and the only thing worth mentioning was a stop at a relatively undisturbed native village. the cogui (natives) still dress traditionally and do the same forest things as they did back in the day. i'm out of time.

Letters From Travels: T.'s Birthday
hey, today is t.'s birthday. the irony of spending his 21st in a country with a lower drinking age wasn't lost on him but we still got him to drink enough alcohol to make an irish sailor wince.
we are now in santa marta, attempting to get into a park tomorrow or the next day. there's a possibility that it won't pan out.
we took the worst bus ever today. when was the last time a bus you rode on had cockroaches?
anyway, still not dead.
fun fact: "which cocaine is on tap tonight" does not translate to spanish as well as one would think.

Letters From Travels: Elections in Colombia
so we just took a motorcycle taxi. t. got a second degree burn on the exhaust. it was kinda crazy. other than that the country is safe as can be. the military is everywhere and they look like they know what they're doing. i guess practice makes perfect huh?
we checked into our resort today, from p.'s family's timeshare. it's pretty nice. a pool overlooks the ocean, the kind of decadence i was born for. we got here a couple of days early so we went to check the place out and almost got escorted off their premises. it's good to know they keep riffraff like us out.
colombia is just like the pictures. mountains, beaches, whatever. it's pretty nice as are the people. this keyboard sucks though. none of these keys work. i blame the drug smugglers.
pocket lint's history fun fact: the elections are upon us here. they're electing a new prime warthog. if i was eligible i would vote for mr. snuffles because of his stance on employment.
not dead clock: a bunch of days

Letters From Travels: Es Verde
es verde. that's my favorite quote from t., the guy who supposedly speaks the best spanish out of the 3 of us. anyway, we're in medellin, trying to get up to the beaches. colombia is huge, it's taking forever. sorry this isn't capatalized and stuff but these keyboards are crazy.
pocket lint's historical fun fact: the entire population of colombia is roughly equal to the number of cheerios in a box. and pants are illegal.
not dead counter: 3 days, 15 hours, 2 minutes, 56 seconds.
