Letters From Travels: T.'s Birthday

hey, today is t.'s birthday. the irony of spending his 21st in a country with a lower drinking age wasn't lost on him but we still got him to drink enough alcohol to make an irish sailor wince.

we are now in santa marta, attempting to get into a park tomorrow or the next day. there's a possibility that it won't pan out.

we took the worst bus ever today. when was the last time a bus you rode on had cockroaches?

anyway, still not dead.

fun fact: "which cocaine is on tap tonight" does not translate to spanish as well as one would think.

Letters From Travels: Elections in Colombia

so we just took a motorcycle taxi. t. got a second degree burn on the exhaust. it was kinda crazy. other than that the country is safe as can be. the military is everywhere and they look like they know what they're doing. i guess practice makes perfect huh?

we checked into our resort today, from p.'s family's timeshare. it's pretty nice. a pool overlooks the ocean, the kind of decadence i was born for. we got here a couple of days early so we went to check the place out and almost got escorted off their premises. it's good to know they keep riffraff like us out.

colombia is just like the pictures. mountains, beaches, whatever. it's pretty nice as are the people. this keyboard sucks though. none of these keys work. i blame the drug smugglers.

pocket lint's history fun fact: the elections are upon us here. they're electing a new prime warthog. if i was eligible i would vote for mr. snuffles because of his stance on employment.

Letters From Travels: Es Verde

es verde. that's my favorite quote from t., the guy who supposedly speaks the best spanish out of the 3 of us. anyway, we're in medellin, trying to get up to the beaches. colombia is huge, it's taking forever. sorry this isn't capatalized and stuff but these keyboards are crazy.

pocket lint's historical fun fact: the entire population of colombia is roughly equal to the number of cheerios in a box. and pants are illegal.

Letters From Travels: Arrival in Bogota

so, we finally got here. our flight was delayed for about 4 hours because (surprise, surprise) texas sucks. there are practically no other travelers here in bogota which is pretty sweet. between the 3 of us we can understand about 75 percent of what people say to us. not bad.

pocket lint's historical fun fact: founded in 1923 and nicknamed "the bog" by the original conquistadors, bogota has been the center of south america's cocaine and fluffy bunny doll industry.

Letters From Travels: Heading South

Good news everybody! I'm going back south! See, at first I thought everyone was jealous enough the first time I took a vacation and rubbed it into their faces, but I'm going to do it again, just for good measure! This time I'll be checking out Colombia for a month or so with two other guys that wanted to come. Should be sweet. I hear their coke a cola is really good down there. What a weird thing for a place to be known for, but I guess I'll see for myself.

Letters From Travels: Back in New Mexico

Hey everybody, Ez and I came back a couple days ago. I just moved too. It's a bit colder here than Central America. I think I'm going to start an organization dedicated to increase global warming. I think we could all save a lot of money on gas bills that way. Let me know if you want to join and I'll mail you a complimentary aerosol can.
